Move-in is a huge day in the lives of students. For freshman, it’s the start of a new adventure as they begin college life.For sophomores, juniors and seniors it’s a reunion with friends back from a summer of internships, jobs or maybe just hanging out in their parent’s basement.
Brands have a great opportunity to connect with students during move-in. But before you roll onto campus, keep in mind these 3 keys to success:
- Add value. Brands should think of ways they can enhance the move-in day experience in a way that is authentic. Can you make their day easier with food and beverages? Give them samples or discounts for something they may not have purchased already for their dorm? Think about all the things they are doing that day and try to fit in organically.
- Do your research. Not all schools do move-in day the same way. Many spread it out over multiple days to avoid chaos on campus. Check the schedules and decide the day and time that is best for the audience you want to reach. Review any policies schools have posted that could affect your ability to engage students.
- Make it memorable. Executing a move-in marketing plan is a lot of work. Don't limit your reach to just campus, give students a reason to share the experience on social media.
